Almost a Year?!?!?
It has been almost a year since I blogged! I can't believe it. What happened?
Well, my job search intensified and was finally rewarded (?!) with a permanent position at a small storage/shipping company that works almost exclusively for one of the largest providers of dairy products in the Northwest. I'm not in love with my job but I am at a point where I can do it effectively (for the most part) and I like the steady paycheck.
Why, oh why, are our lives so bound by money?
That's for another time, though.
No, I woke up this morning a little later than I had wanted to. I have not been going to the gym as often as I should and I wanted to make an effort to get back into the habit. Baby steps, baby steps. Anyway, I thought that since I couldn't make it to the gym, work out for the required time, make it back home, eat something, s/s/s for work, and make it to work on time, I would instead open up the old blog page and check things out. And wouldn't you know it? My last post was February 28, 2010. Wow!
So, here's my new goal: if I can't make it to the gym, I will make it here. Writing is mental aerobics for me and I am at least a tad more diligent about that than I am about getting my carcass on to the elliptical. (I prefer the elliptical over the treadmill because I get a higher caloric burn. When I was working from home and going to the gym four or five times a week, I was burning about 700-800 calories a day! That's how I lost 47 lbs. last year!) And since I find myself musing about things anyway, I figure I could muse here.
So, I am going to muse, mostly about movies. I don't get enough information to offer views on politics anymore.
Movies... next Sunday: the Academy Awards. Will Natalie Portman win? If she wins, will she deliver a better speech than that embarrassingly immature rant she did at the Golden Globes? Will Colin Firth win? I hope so. "The King's Speech" is a marvelous film. I also think Geoffrey Rush should win but to be fair, I haven't seen "The Fighter." I do know Christian Bale is a tremendously talented actor.
We shall see.
